Professor Sien-Sing Yang graduated from China Medical College, Taichung, Taiwan in 1979. He received residency and fellowship training in Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital, Taipei from 1978 to 1985. He also received his fellowship training in Liver Unit, King's College Hospital, London from 1985 to 1986. He then served at University of Southern California Liver Unit, Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center, 1986-88, and then returned to Taiwan. 

Professor Sien-Sing Yang is the Founder and Consultant of Liver Unit, Cathay General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. He is the President Emeritus of Taiwan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, and Fellow of American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. His research focuses on complications of acute and chronic hepatic failure, clinical and basic researches of chronic hepatitis B and C and alcoholic liver disease. He is also the Director of International Affairs to conduct the training and education programs of oversea scholars from Mongolia, Vietnam and Nepal since 2007. He was awarded the Visiting Professor of Health Science University of Mongolia and Golden Honorary Medal, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in 2010. He is the reviewer of Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Liver International, Alcohol and Alcoholism and many others.
