The global burden of genitourinary malignancies has been largely growing attributable to both rising incidence and associated morbidity. While genitourinary malignancies often necessitate multi-disciplinary care and treatment, surgical management of these common disease processes remains a key and integral aspect of treatment for optimal oncologic outcomes. We intentionally focused on top-ics that would highlight essential surgical principles, ranging from salvage prostatectomy to retroperi-toneal lymph node dissection to urinary diversions. Another key objective of our focused series was to critically review ongoing controversies about the comparative effectiveness of surgical approaches.

With the widespread use of video-assisted thoracic surgical procedures, the focus of the clinicians in patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE) moved from diagnostics to most efficient therapeutic options that are expected to provide both a survival benefit and quality of life. The decision-making process in practice is influenced by different causes of MPE - primary lung cancer, extrathoracic malignancies or pleural mesothelioma.
Despite the changing landscape of treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) remains a safe and effective option for treatment of multivessel obstructive CAD. Since its introduction in mid 1960s, CABG has evolved tremendously making it the only evidence-backed standard of care for treatment of CAD with well-established symptomatic and prognostic benefits. This series is dedicated to providing an overview of CABG covering the various surgical techniques in particular and the evolution of CABG in general. Articles are contributed by world experts and opinion leaders and expected to provide an insight to the readers into the past, pre-sent and future of CABG.
Rare genitourinary malignancies remain a diverse and often challenging subset of tumor types for clinicians to care for. There are a number of reasons for the resulting challenges imparted in caring for these patients including the infrequent number of cases cared for within large healthcare systems as well as the paucity of prospective studies aimed at redefining the treatment standards for these poorly funded malignancies attracting limited industry support. This series highlights exciting advances which have been made in caring for many of these tumors and encompass the topics of adrenocortical carcinoma, extra-gonadal germ cell, melanoma, penile, sarcoma, scrotal, and urethral cancers.
AME Publishing Company entered an official partnership with Publons, a product of Clarivate Analytic Company (which owns Web of Science, EndNote, ScholarOne, among many others), as of April 2020. Around 60 AME journals’ peer review systems are now integrated seamlessly into the Publons platform (https://publons.com/about/home). The partnership was done to recognize our expert peer reviewers spontaneously for their review contribution.
